Our History

Citizens Bank was founded in 1926 through the efforts of E.J. Evans and 44 other citizens of the Amsterdam, Missouri community. In total, 100 shares were sold at a price of $100 each. Over 90 years later, Citizens Bank continues to be locally owned and operated to serve community banking needs. “Small enough to know you, large enough to serve you” has been our motto since the very beginning.

Today there are ten locations; our main focus is to serve each of those communities. Our customer service can’t be beat, we hire only the best people to be part of our team. Lending decisions are made on site; we don’t have to call someone in a distant city to finalize rates, terms, or payment configuration. We work with you to build the product that fits your needs best. Our experience, positive attitude, and desire to help you are unsurpassed and will continue to be the proudest part of the history of the Citizens Bank.
